Bio

Ellen, a transgender woman, has been a Licensed Professional Counselor in Charlottesville, VA, for over 20 years. She specializes in working with adults, students, and couples. She was formerly at the University of Virginia Department of Psychiatry, Under Fives Study Center and Clinic.

Ellen has been practicing meditation since 1972, and teaching meditation since 1995. She was the Administrator and a teacher in the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program at the University of Virginia.

Ellen received a National Science Foundation Fellowship to study in the PhD program in Clinical Psychology at American University in 1970. She received her MA in Professional Counseling from Argosy University in 2003. She also attended Johns Hopkins University, University of Maryland, and the University of Connecticut. Additionally, she received training at the Tavistock Clinic in London, England.

In addition, Ellen completed the 3 year, 1500 hour teacher training program in The Alexander Technique in 1999.
